In this special edition G-SHOCK SESSION, Jamz brings her D.I.Y Handbook Podcast to life, with a roundtable discussion with inspirational friends and industry mentors Toddla-T, Percelle Ascott and Otegha Uwagba.

In an insightful yet relatable conversation, they will dig deep into the experiences and real-life anecdotes that have shaped them personally and professionally and reflect on the character-building and path-defining life lessons. Just like the podcast of the same name, this SESSION will be a practical and comforting toolkit to dig into when faced with some of life’s most challenging obstacles.

Hosting a weekly specialist show on BBC RADIO 1XTRA, Jamz weaves between Eclectic, Broken Beat, UK Funky and Global Sounds. She has graced the stages at Sonar, Parklife, Glastonbury, Detonate, Outlook, Kala, Lovebox, Beat Herder, Lost Village, We Out Here, Lost & Found, Warehouse Project and is no stranger to the European circuit with regular slots away including Berlin, Lisbon, Copenhagen, Budapest, Barcelona, Porto, Paris, Amsterdam and Oslo.

A keen agent for change, Jamz created DIY HANDBOOK - a spotlight on amazing young people building their own boss careers, highlighting women and people of colour. Originally a radio feature, this has now become a podcast series hosted by Jamz along with some amazing guests. The first series out in April, consists of informal chats with guests around topics building a team, rejection, the power of no and ownership.

TODDLA T

Producer, Songwriter, DJ, Label Owner and former Radio 1 broadcaster Toddla T is one of the UK’s most original talents and prolific producers. Heavily influenced by music and culture from around the world, Toddla’s sound is individually British.

Signed to BMG Music Publishing, his recent hits include #2 “Ain’t It Different”, Top 10 “Strike A Pose”, Top 15 “Boasty” and Top 40 “Ay Caramba”. PERCELLE ASCOTT

Percelle Ascott is an Actor, Writer, and Producer. Ascott is also a co-founder of the online platform The Wall of Entertainment. Since its launch in 2015, the platform has spanned over 5 billion views, reaching over 107,000,000 people per week.

SOLA

Sola is a South London based musician who fuses her love for ambient electronics with R&B and jazz to create a hypnotic blend she titles ‘warped soul’. The self-produced, classically trained musician released her debut project, ‘Wealth Has Come’ in 2018. It’s follow up, ‘Mami Wata’ was released in October 2020 and explores the divine power of the deity which shares the same name.

OTEGHA UWAGBA

Otegha Uwagba is a bestselling author, culture journalist and speaker. She has written three books, including the Sunday Times bestselling Little Black Book: A Toolkit for Working Women in 2017 (which has since been translated into nine languages), and a short essay Whites: On Race And Other Falsehoods, published in 2020 and selected as one of the Guardian’s Books of the Year. Her highly anticipated memoir We Need To Talk About Money is set to be published in July 2021.

She was selected for the Forbes 30 Under 30 Media list in 2018, and her writing has been featured in publications including Vogue, The Cut (New York Magazine), Dazed, i-D, the New Statesman, the Guardian, and The Gentlewoman. She is the creator of popular newsletter The Roundup, a weekly newsletter with 10,000 subscribers and also hosts the culture and ideas podcast In Good Company.

She graduated from Oxford with a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and grew up in south London, where she still resides.
